Following the suicide of a 39-year-old man who allegedly lost Rs. 40 Lakhs playing online rummy, the Chief Minister said he had got more representatio😼ns from the public to ban online rummy in the Union Territory.
Narayanasamy said his government had already taken steps to🃏 ban online lotteries and had arrested several people. But the state government does not have the power to ban online 🐓rummy and so had written to Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
As online 🤡rummy's 🐠popularity continues to soar, many state governments and public figures have urged it to be outlawed.
Andhra Pradesh has flirted with banning online rummy for the last few years, a Karnataka MP recently repeated calls for an online rummy ban, and Dr S. Ramadoss is another to call for action against the game.
